No on 1 Campaign releases ad urging voters to reject attack on absentee voting

October 8, 2025

STATEWIDE – Save Maine Absentee Voting, a coalition of more than 33 groups and thousands of individuals, today released its first ad urging voters to vote “no” on Question 1 in November.

The ad features Bud Bailey, 82, a retired veteran and Whitefield resident, discussing why absentee voting matters for Maine.

“Bud does a great job of explaining the issue. Question 1 is a clear attack on absentee voting,” said David Farmer, campaign manager for Save Maine Absentee Voting/No on Question 1. “Nearly half of all Maine voters rely on absentee voting. If Question 1 passes, rural voters, voters with disabilities and who are sick, seniors and people who work multiple jobs could lose their ability to cast their ballots by mail.”

The release of the advertisement follows a successful Weekend of Action, when more than 100 volunteers canvassed their communities, knocking on doors to talk about Question 1.

Save Maine Absentee Voting declined to release information regarding the placement of the Bailey ad or the length of time that it will run.

Election Day is Nov. 4. Early, absentee voting began on Monday, Oct. 6. For more information, go to JustVoteME.org.
